The Paisley Blackhawks are a recreational ice hockey team who play for fun and like to have a beer or two after training or games - it's a club rule.

Braehead Arena is our home, it has an Olympic size ice pad, 4000 seats and it is the best ice sports facility in Scotland.

25/08/08 Blackhawks Looking For Sponsors

The Blackhawks are looking for local businesses to assist with the operating costs of our club. If you are interested or would like to know more, please e-mail Brian Murdoch at the link above for more details.

The Blackhawks are invited to 4 tournaments each year and play games against other recreational clubs from all over the UK.

20/08/08 Blackhawks Invited to a Tournament in Bratislava, Slovakia

The Blackhawks have accepted and invitation to enter a tournament in Bratislava, Slovakia on the 11th & 12th October.  The team will travel from the 10th to the 13th, we will take part in cultural exchanges to promote Scotland and Scottish Ice Hockey.

Vladimir Kaznakov has worked hard all summer to make this possible, he promises to take the guys to the best pubs and  DEESKO's in town.

15/08/08 Blackhawks Training Starts Away From Home

The Blackhawks are looking forward to returning to the ice for the new season but we have to train away from our home rink for a few weeks.  We have hired the ice at Murrayfield Ice Rink on 07th, 14th & 21st September and have invited our fellow Braehead reccy club, the Panthers, to share this training ice as ice time on teh west coast is hard to find.

Braehead Arena is hosting the Walt Disney production, Nemo on Ice, and all ice users accept this is a part of life in a multi-purpose arena. There are not that many events during the hockey year and it's a small price to pay in order to train and play in Scotland's best ice sports facility.

We return to Braehead for our first training on Friday 03rd October at the slightly earlier time of 21:30 to 23:00 which means we get to the pub earlier after training.

19/07/08 Blackhawks Looking to Start New Season on a High

The Blackhawks are looking forward to returning to Braehead arena after the summer break. The club and all the ice users received a boost when they heard that the best ice sports facility in Scotland has committed to providing ice for the next 4 years.

This is great news and means that all the ice sports clubs can make plans for the next few years. It is great news for the local community and should see more youngsters taking up ice sports over the next few years.

This will enable the Blackhawks to attract sponsors to help keep the costs down for the players.

If you or you know anyone who is willing to sponsor an adult hockey team who play for fun, travel the world as ambassadors for Scotland and ice hockey,  then get in touch with Brian Murdoch using the e-mail link above.
